Rugged housings for dust, salt, and heat
Base cameras die from climate, not from lack of pixels. Housings must be outdoor-rated for the post: dust, salt fog, and high temperature are the spec, not the brochure photo.
A thermal core in a plastic dome is a warehouse camera. Posts on the coast and in the desert need sealed, sun-loaded, often nitrogen or wiper-equipped payloads that stay on 24/7. We filter the catalog for housings that publish IP and operating-temperature figures.
Where the pad is a hazardous zone, explosion-rated options are listed in the same mission group rather than as a side conversation.
Field note
Read the housing and temperature lines on the datasheet before the DRI table. If the post is coastal or desert, those lines are the buy.
